Firefox 2 Slow Web-browsing Fix
This may be due to your system or internet connection not being able to use the newer protocol of IPv6 ? You are only able to use the older protocol of IPv4 ? Firefox 2 has IPv6 enabled by default, if it can not use IPv6, then eventually it falls back to using IPv4 protocol ! This is why you are waiting for about 10 seconds for it to start, and it may seem to you that there is some thing wrong with Firefox 2 or your internet connection ?
There is a solution, you can turn off Firefox trying to use by default the IPv6 protocol.
- In the Firefox browser adress bar type: about:config
- Then in the new text field, type: network.dns.disableIPv6
- Double click the line and it will set the value from false to true.
- Your Web-browsing speed will increase dramatically.
TAKE NOTE: This fix is not required by every one, only do it if your use of Firefox seems slow.
